About the Crossroads Infoshop
We are a volunteer-run radical information center located in Kansas City, Missouri's "East Side." We have a lending library and zine distro featuring progressive, radical, and anarchist books, magazines, and other materials.
We carry a small collection of both new and used books for sale on a variety
of topics. We are also an infoshop, so we provide free and low-cost information about the community, radical politics, current events, and resources availab
le in the city.We also serve as a community center and activist organizing
center, so please contact us about hosting meetings or events.
Our history
The seed that grew into the current infoshop project was planted in 2002-2003 by a group of Kansas City residents who came together to form a project they called the "RECC Center." Much organizing was put into that project, but it never opened at an actual location. The people involved in this proto-infoshop and community center went on to form the Crossroads Infoshop project.
Our current location at the front of 3109 Troost is actually our third location over the past four years. Our first incarnation was at 19th and Locust, next door to the late MoMo Gallery in the Crossroads District. The infoshop first opened in July 2004 and closed at the end of June 2005. We were homeless for a year before re-opening in a small room at 3109 Troost in July 2006. We moved into our new space at 3109 Troost in April 2007.
Our current volunteers continue to remodel the space, expand the projects, and continue the spirit of providing free radical information in a comfortable environment. Please contact us if you would like to help volunteer with the project.
